Dear JKO Students and family members

January 2018 brings lots of excitement for Japan Karate-Do Organization and you!  We will hold the first training session of the new year celebration practice (Keiko Hajime) on Tuesday, January 2nd, at 5 pm.  All students, including Iai-Do members are invited to this special training.  Each family is invited to participate in a potluck dinner following the conclusion of training around 6 pm.  Please bring a dish or two of your favorite food to share with other families.

I will be providing water, may be Sake for adults, plates and utensils.  Special attention will be given to clean the dojo, your health, great training and superb progress including a blessing for everyone’s successful results in 2018.

2018 JKO PASSBOOKS ARE NOW AVAILABLE- Please fill out Membership Renewal forms and pay $25 affiliation fee.  A 2018 Blue Passbooks will be issued upon submission of form and fees.

A very special day has arrived for two of our dearest students.  Emma Buechler and Abby Matsuyoshi and  will attempt the black belt rank on Friday January 12, 2018 at 5pm.  They will be accompanied by 8 other candidates from around the USA.  The test will be given at the JKO Hombu dojo at  6108 Avenida Encinas, Carlsbad, CA 92011.  Classes will be canceled at our dojo so that each of you are able to attend test to support them. There is a special Kyu rank test from 4 PM, please check Hanshi the eligibility for the special test.

On Saturday, January 13th,

WKF Referee and rules seminars will be held from 10 AM to 12 Noon, conducted by a new WKF Referee, JKO Sempai Alejandra Munoz. It’s $20.00 per attendance.

Hanshi Miki will conducts Kata seminar from 12:30 to 3 PM. We will cover All of new requirement Katas for higher Dan ranks. The fee is $50.00 per participant.

The 46th JKO National Shito Ryu Karate-Do Championships will be held at the Calavera Hills Community Center, 2997 Glasgow Drive, Carlsbad, CA 92010,on Sunday January 14.  The facility door opens from 8:30 AM, the competition starts 10 AM.
