JKO Bulletin News: 2018 April, May & June

Congratulations JKO Carlsbad athletes and Dojo supporting families !


JKO Carlsbad members did again, with their great performances and captured so many medals in Jr. International & USA Open which International events were attended with 45 countries, with over 2,800 athletes on Friday, March 30 thru Sunday April 1st at Paris Hotel Convention Center in Las Vegas.


Lily won 2 gold, a silver &  a bronze medals. Carlos Ryu won 2 gold, 1 silver medals. Grace won a gold and a bronze medals. Ricky won a gold medal. Akari won 2 silver and a bronze medals. Ryan won a silver & a bronze medals. Roza won a bronze medal. Ali won a bronze medals


The USA NKF National Championship Qualifier tournament and Goodwill tournament will be held on Saturday June 2, at JKO Carlsbad Dojo for San Diego County, Orange County and Baja California residences.


There are many local tournaments for you to enjoy participating.

Sunday May 20,  The 46th Riverside Tournament will be held in Cal Baptist University 8432 Magnolia Ave. Riverside, CA. www.AmysKarate.com.


Saturday, May 26, The 2018 Seiden Kai Cup will be held at 74-910 Azteo Rd. Palm Desert, CA 92260. ichi_canedo@hotmail.com. Tel.760-455-6063


The Brown and Black belts class will be held on Sunday, May 6 & June 3 from 10 AM to 12 Noon.  It is highly recommended for All of Brown and Black belts to attend. The fee is $20.00 per person/seminar.


JKO Carlsbad observes Memorial day Holidays. JKO Carlsbad will be closed on Friday, May 25 thru Monday May 28, 2018. The regular scheduled classes resume Tuesday June 28.


The Kyu Rank Test will be held on Wednesday, June 6. All of the application form and fees must be submitted by Friday, June 1st.


JKO members are going to training in Kindai University in Osaka, J JKO Team to visiting Japan’s best World Champion producer

in June 20 thru June 28.


Hanshi Miki and 19 JKO elite Black belt athletes are visiting the Kindai University in Osaka, Japan in June.

JKO Carlsbad Black belts, Abby Matsuyoshi, Manish Sampath and

 Trevor Sullivan are the team members.

The Kindai University Karate team has produced many WKF and All Japan Champions. Some of them are WKF World Female Kata Champion,  Atsuko Wakai and a famous Scorpion kick maker, Kou Matsuhisa and current Ken Nishimura who defeated 4 time WKF Champion, Rafael Aghayev 3 times recently. The Kindai Univ. team captured 21 times of the All Japan titles followed 2nd place Takushoku Univ. by 8 times.

Dear JKO Members:

I have an exciting news for all of JKO members. As you know, I had a great time and visit here with Mr. Kijima : Kindai Univ. Head Master and Chairman of Osaka Karate-do Federation. The Kindai Univ. Karate team made many WKF World Champions, and All Japan Champions in both Kata and Kumite. Many famous Champions, ie Atsuko Wakai, 4 times WKF Female Kata Champion and Ko Matsuhisa, who created the famous “Scorpion Kick” and currently Ken Nishimura, who beat Rafael Aghyev 3 times, including in 2018 Paris Open.
The departure date/time are at 11:50 AM, at SAN ( San Diego airport) on Friday June 15.
​The total cost estimated $2,100.00, including all of transportation cost and Univ. dorm type facility, and 3 meals in cafeteria or/Univ. restaurants, basics. We are expecting to have some sightseeing and visit cities like, Osaka, Nara ,which is oldest capital of Japan is located only 20 in with a public train and Kyoto is only 1 hour away. Kindai University is located in east of Osaka.
I like to our members to experience and practice among the best young practitioners of Japan.
